Tony Tran began his asphalt career in 2016 and is now one of the founding member-owners of Blackout Asphalt Maintenance. With years of hands-on paving experience, he has worked across multiple specialties in the industry, including sealcoating, striping, asphalt repairs, and full-scale paving.
Tony studied at Olympic College in Bremerton after graduating from North Kitsap High School in 2002. Soon after, a friend introduced him to an opportunity in commercial fishing, where he spent the next eight years working on boats in Alaska. During his off-season, he returned to Kitsap County to hang drywall and frame houses, building a strong foundation in construction and trade work.
In his free time, Tony volunteers as a strength and conditioning coach for at-risk youth, teaching with two simple rules: go to class and stay out of trouble. He enjoys fishing, camping, motorcycles, and spending time with his wife and three daughters. We are happy to offer 10% discount on your residential sealcoat service if 3 or more of your neighbor's book with us for the same day.
At Blackout we focus primarily on maintenance and repair. We do not offer full-service paving.
We offer a special resurfacing product, similar to slurry seal for some applications.
This depends on traffic and use, but most customers find best results and sealer retention if done every 2-4 years.
We do not currently offer concrete sealing.
The typical sealing season is from May to October (weather dependent). Ideal conditions require temps to be above 50-60 degrees and rising with no rain in the forecast for 24 hrs.
It typically takes 12 to 24 hours before a newly sealed surface is ready for vehicle traffic. Cooler temperatures and shade, which are common in the PNW, can extend this curing time to 2 - 3 days.
New asphalt should be allowed to cure for at least 30 to 90 days (about 1 to 3 months) before sealcoat is applied.
